Mel is a full-time surface pattern designer and illustrator based in Wellington, New Zealand, where she works. Her designs are a unique blend of traditional hand-drawn motifs and digital art, largely influenced by the rich beauty of New Zealand nature and the whimsical stories of her children. Whimsical Forest Floor is all earthy colours, and as promised a mix of graphic and organic images.

Spark – I’d let the fabric do all the heavy lifting with this one and keep it simple. Cut into a lot of 4-5″ squares and sew them together randomly, interspersed with some well chosen solids. Gorgeous!
